Through the years I have collected numerous art supplies, a little bit at a time. With a one income household there was not budget for extravagance, every purchase was purposeful and well considered. For our homeschool art supplies I tried to find a balance in quality and cost and researched where to spend more and where we could spend less. I have always purchased the "best you can afford" for art supplies used when actively learning a skill. We invested in brands like Prismacolor, Canson, and Winsor Newton for our school art.
Now, our homeschool is closed and I am the only person in our household purchasing art supplies. I work a few hours a week as a librarian in our small town library and earn just enough "fun money" to slowly invest in more and better quality art supplies. I tell my friends that I can spend an entire paycheck in a few minutes and I can't be more thankful for the opportunity!
I will use this page to share links to art supplies I own, and will hopefully help others who are interested in collecting their own supplies. I do not purchase many professional quality supplies because they are outside of my budget but mostly because I am not a professional artist and do not have that goal in mind. Maybe when I am in my 70's? That allows me 20 years to grow my art skills enough to justify owning more professional quality art supplies. If I am not there by then, it isn't meant to be, and I won't be sad because 20 years of purposefully creating is not a loss in any book!
Here is a list of some favorite supplies, not purchased from Amazon!
Here is a link to my Amazon Storefront!
I didn't even know I could create a storefront! I signed up for the "Amazon Affiliate" program umpteen years ago and never really looked into what it was. I only had a vague idea that if I shared a link with a friend and they bought the item, I might get some amazon credit. Last week I decided to finally read an email from Amazon (I usually delete them because they are only telling me about an order that I already know about!) and it was Amazon Affiliate information. Apparently, over the several years I have been sharing links with friends I have earned a whopping $22! That is $22 of art supplies I can buy now! I had to finish filling out my information, that is what the email was about. I don't know what will happen now and I am not sure if I will ever see a $22 credit but I will definitely let you know! How exciting! I did more digging and found out that I could make an "Amazon Storefront". So I did! It is quite boring because I am NOT a content creator. I am trying to only share products I have actually purchased and use. (Amazon keeps suggesting items from my browsing history and that is a deep deep well of random items!) If anyone purchases items from that storefront I am supposed to receive a credit of some sort. If that ever does happen, it will go directly into more art supplies!
